Spratt

It is often difficult to find the maiden surnames of ladies who married into the family, so in all the views of our tree we have shown females as for example 'SPRATT-wife' where the surname is unknown. To keep things simple many siblings are not shown. There are 4,541 people in our full tree with 104 individuals with the surname Spratt spread over 7 generations. In our database everyone is listed under the name used to record their first known event such as birth or baptism, or in some cases the census.

Our Spratt line has been traced back to circa 1816, when James Spratt was born in St Pancras or Bloomsbury, but we have been unable to trace his baptism. He married Caroline Ann Crump Hayward in St Pancras Old Church in 1837, just before civil registration started so we do not have a 'marriage certificate' giving his fathers name or occupation. James and Caroline were both 'of this parish', but we have not yet managed to trace any details of James's birth, baptism or his parents.
